2 bedroom alpine 'appartement' in the heart of the Haute-Savoie, the best part of the French Alps - Where the French and Swiss choose to ski

Samoëns is a magical village set deep in the French Alps.

Full of traditional mountain charm, the village has been a selfishly well-kept secret by the French and Genévois for many years.

The Grand Massif ski area has only recently been “discovered” by the British and thankfully seldom features in brochures.

Samoëns
is the only winter sports resort to be classified by the "Caisse Nationale des Monuments Historiques", and enjoys architectural and cultural protection similar to our National Heritage.  It all too easy to fall for its old fashioned charm and is ideal for Couples, Groups, and Families alike.

In 1906 Cognacq-Jaÿ sculpted a mountainous area 3.5 hectares into a beautiful alpine botanical garden right in the centre of Samoëns, with waterfalls, leafy glades, and the ruins of the Tornalta castle (12th century), a chapel (18th century) together with over 8,000 plant species.

Samoëns is part of the huge 265 Km Grand-Massif ski area that enjoys an excellent reputation for good snow and queue free skiing. There is even more to do in Summer.

Annecy, Bonneville, Chamonix, Evian and Geneva begin the extensive list of attractions, catering for walking, climbing, down-hill and cross-country Skiing.

The worlds deepest pot-hole, Cycling, Para-Pending, Rafting, Golf, Hair Boating, Kayaking, and Riding, all of which are within easy reach.

Car Hire

Most operators and website advise you to book a car from the Swiss side. PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS, unless you really like paying through the nose. Please check any of the larger car hire websites and select Switzerland, Geneva (GVA) and then try the same deal using France, Geneva (GGV)

We recommend that you pre-book this from the UK. Geneva has a smaller French area to the airport; however poor signage can make navigation a challenge. Detailed maps etc provided with a foolproof step-by-step guide which has been road-tested by our brother-in-law and updated accordingly! Booking via the French side save approx 60% off the car hire so is well worthwhile.
This step-by-step guide is only provided to confirmed bookings.

By train
The nearest station is Cluses (20 minutes drive from Samoëns) Buses run from either place, but you are advised to hire a car.

By bus
There is a bus link from Geneva Airport to Samoëns, which costs approx. €30 each way. See our 'links' page
